The Ruby Runner is in the same class as the Zombie in terms of alcohol content – nearly 5 ounces – but unlike the Zombie, this one doesn’t have quite enough fruit juice to disguise the alcohol. Which means it doesn’t sneak up on you quite the same way.
This is a cocktail for when you really need a drink, but you don’t want the taste of strong alcohol. With rum and liqueurs providing the kick, it’s gentler than plain hard liquors – but just as powerful.

This is a cocktail for when you really need a drink, but you don't want the taste of strong alcohol. With rum and liqueurs providing the kick, it's gentler than plain hard liquors - but just as powerful.
Ingredients
- 3 ounces Malibu coconut rum
- 2 ounces orange juice
- 2 ounces pineapple juice
- 3/4 ounce blackberry brandy
- 3/4 ounce banana liqueur
- 1 splash grenadine syrup
- 1 splash Bacardi rum
Instructions
- Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
- Pour in the rum, brandy, banana liqueur, blackberry brandy and fruit juices.
- Shake well.
- Strain the mixture into a highball glass.
- Add splashes of grenadine and Bacardi.
- Garnish with a cherry and an orange wheel.
