Yellow Peril

The Yellow Peril cocktail is named after British traffic wardens. It’s four ounces of alcohol, albeit some in the form of liqueurs which are not so high proof. The drink’s name is probably intended as a reminder of what might happen if you consume it before placing yourself behind the steering column in the vehicle of your choice. This is definitely the kind of drink to save for a night when you’ll either be taking cabs or are already settled in wherever it is you’re going to sleep.
The flavors in this one are an interesting combination – banana, anise, vanilla, orange and lime. The lime tends to hit first on the first sip, but after that the banana is the more dominant flavor. The orange, vanilla and anise form one note that’s sweet and spicy at the same time. It’s hard to describe.
Recipe
- 1 ounce lime vodka
- 1 ounce Galliano
- 1 ounce creme de bananes
- 1 ounce Cointreau
Pour all your ingredients into a brandy snifter and swirl them around. Wouldn’t want to make it too complicated, or you might have trouble making the second one.
