The Purple Pushover is a mostly rum-based cocktail, with orange and pineapple juice, and some very clear notes from a red raspberry liqueur and grenadine. The taste is fruity and sweet – more mellow than citrus.
The Purple Pushover is a fun drink that’s packed with citrus and berry flavor. It’s actually on the weak side, with just a quarter ounce of serious liquor and another half ounce of low-proof liqueurs.
And that makes it good for occasional drinkers, and for get-togethers where you don’t want anyone getting drunk, such as work-related parties. You can mix up a big batch of this cocktail in a pitcher beforehand.
Purple Pushover Drink Recipe
- 1/4 ounce dark rum
- 1/4 ounce Malibu coconut rum
- 1/4 ounce DeKuyper Razzmatazz
- 1 dash Cruzan 151 rum
- 2 – 3 ounces orange juice
- 2 – 3 ounces pineapple juice
- a splash of grenadine
- a dash of 7-Up
Put everything but the dash of 151 rum into a large shaker with ice. Shake it all together well. Pour everything, ice and all, into a highball glass. Float the rum on top.
