Mikado

The Mikado has a flavor that’s sweet but intriguing. The basis of it is brandy, with small amounts of liqueurs added to it.
The overall flavor is almond cherry, but with a tart note from the triple sec and something woodsy from the brandy. Remember not to waste a good sipping brandy on this one – you want something that’s drinkable but could use a little smoothing out.
Recipe
- 1 1/2 ounces brandy
- 1/2 ounces triple sec
- 1 teaspoon creme de noyaux (or almond liqueur, such as amaretto)
- 1 teaspoon grenadine
- 1 dash of angostura bitters
Fill an old-fashioned glass most of the way with ice cubes. Pour in the ingredients and stir well.
