Cherry Coketail mocktail recipe

The Cherry Coketail is a mocktail that actually tastes better than a lot of the cocktails that feature cola. It blends cherry, vanilla and a touch of lime with your choice of regular, diet or any version of cola you want. If you have a jar of maraschino cherries on hand, you can just scoop some juice out from that, but any sort of cherry syrup will also work. In a pinch, you could even melt a cherry candy such as a Jolly Rancher.
This is a really fun drink – the sort of thing most of us wanted to have all the time as kids but rarely got to. It tastes a lot like a cherry coke served at a county fair, but I like the addition of vanilla and lime because they make it more unique and interesting. At a get-together where drinks like Jack and Coke are being served, this is a great option to offer the non-drinkers.
This is a fantastic beverage to have in place of regular cola. It’s right at home with a good hamburger or hot dog, or even a BLT. It’s even good with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Because of the cherry vanilla flavor, it also works very well with chocolate – chocolate cake, chocolate bars, chocolate silk pies, really any form of chocolate you can think of.
One of the great things about serving this one at a party is that it’s so easy to make on the fly. There’s no prep, other than cutting up limes, and you just mix each drink as you go.
Cherry Coketail recipe
- 1/2 ounce maraschino cherry juice (or cherry syrup)
- 1/4 ounce vanilla extract
- 1 squeeze of lime
- Cola to top
Pour the cherry juice and vanilla into a rocks glass. Squeeze the lime in next. Then pour cola to the top – diet or regular, both work well.
