Strawberry Patch Drink Recipe

The Strawberry Patch cocktail is a sinfully sweet, fruity treat. Seriously, if you’re not looking for a super sweet dessert cocktail, just run away now. The only ingredient in this one that isn’t sweet is the whipping cream. The Galliano has some spicy notes (anise and ginger, mainly), but seriously, that’s the only relief from the sweetness.
There are flavors of strawberry, cherry, plum and orange. Strawberry dominates, and all the other flavors meld into one note that’s somewhere between berry and citrus with a hint of spice.
Despite the potentially overwhelming sweetness, this drink has an intriguing flavor. This makes it difficult to pair with foods other than dessert. Cheesecake, pound cake, even chocolate cake – anything that would go with strawberry sauce. It’s a bit much for most meals, but it can work with something savory or salty, like a cheese and meat platter, or even just pretzels or nuts.
Recipe
- 1 ounce strawberry liqueur
- 1/2 ounce cherry vodka
- 1/2 ounce Galliano
- 1 teaspoon sloe gin
- 1 ounce mandarin juice
- 1 ounce whipping cream
Put a few ice cubes in a cocktail shaker. Pour in all ingredients and shake well. Strain the mixture into a champagne saucer. Dip a strawberry in water, then sugar, and use it for garnish.
