Blackberry Margarita Cocktail Recipe

The Blackberry Margarita features blackberry liqueur along with silver tequila, lime juice and Cointreau. The flavor starts out tart but finishes more mellow and sweet.

This recipe doesn’t call for a salt rim, because that would clash with the blackberry flavor. You could try giving it a sugar rim, although that makes it pretty sweet.

This drink actually makes a really good dessert substitute. But you can also enjoy it along with desserts, such as a plain and simple cheesecake. The blackberry liqueur isn’t overwhelming, you can enjoy this drink with any meal you’d pair with a margarita.

Mexican dishes are perfect – carne asada, carnitas, tacos, just about anything Mexican was made for margaritas. Or maybe it’s the other way around.

Another fun way to serve this one? Put crushed ice in your glass and pour the chilled and shaken ingredients over it so it’s like a shaved ice.

That’s especially nice on a hot day, or at an outdoor party. You can actually serve this one at a backyard barbecue, because it’s light and tart enough to complement heavy, greasy foods.

And if you want, you can even make your own blackberry liqueur for it. If you can’t get fresh limes because of where you live or the time of year, you can actually buy them on Amazon (see the link below in the recipe).

You can serve this one with a simple lime wheel for garnish, or you can spear blackberries with a cocktail pick. Yes, you can use frozen blackberries (which is all most of us can get at some times of the year). Just thaw them in warm water first.
