Devon Air

The Devon Air cocktail blends the apple brandy and apple cider with gin and grenadine. The taste is something like a crisp apple that’s just barely sweet. This is an unexpectedly refreshing drink that’s perfect for fall, but also any other time of the year.

Devon Air drink with cherry

You don’t need an expensive apple brandy or applejack for this one. A good one will do. If you’re concerned about top shelf ingredients, you’re better off to spend a little more on the gin. I’m a fan of Hendrick’s because it tastes wonderful straight, so you know it’ll be good in a cocktail.

This is a perfect drink for relaxing in the evenings. It pairs wonderfully with a meat and cheese board – chopped summer sausage, brie or a peppered hard cheese, some olives, nuts and anything else you like to snack on.

Recipe

  • 1 ounce apple brandy or applejack
  • 1/2 ounce gin
  • 2 ounce dry cider
  • 1 teaspoon grenadine syrup

Fill an old-fashioned glass half-way with crushed ice. Pour in the ingredients, stir, and garnish with a cherry.
