The Loco Unicorn drink recipe tastes as good as it looks. Captain Morgan’s LocoNut coconut liqueur blends with two fruity ingredients to make a beautiful pink and blue rainbow.
Look at this amazing-looking drink! It’s so cool you might think you could never make a drink like this at home.
The purple edible glitter on the rim makes this drink especially unique. What other drink has a purple rim?
But don’t be put off by how complicated the drink looks. I have a layering tutorial and a glass rimmer tutorial for you.
The layering effect is unusually easy in this one because the drink has ice and the liqueurs are so easy to float. They just kind of drift into place.
And putting a sugar rim on a cocktail glass is easy. Sugar loves to stick to a wet glass rim even more than salt.
This drink is indeed all about the look with its beautiful blue, pink and red layers, but don’t worry. It tastes as good as it looks, too.
The flavors here are… well, we’ve talked about LocoNut before. It tastes like fresh coconut with hints of spice, and is a step above the usual coconut liqueur.
To that, this drink adds some berry-flavored grenadine and some orange-flavored blue curacao. The result is a coconut-orange-berry party in your mouth.
And you have two options for drinking it: just sip from the bottom, so it gradually moves from the berry flavor to the orange, or stir it around and enjoy all the flavors at once. Either way is delicious.
It’s fruity, a little bit tropical, and rich and creamy to boot. It makes a terrific dessert drink.
And if you want to make this drink special, it’s worth springing for a bottle of hand-crafted grenadine, that’s made the old-fashioned way instead of with corn syrup. The taste is fresher and lighter.
But to make it a long drink, this recipe include six ounces of coconut water. Coconut water is pretty delicious… and you may have heard it has all sorts of magical health benefits.
Forget most of that. Most of the claims are just hype, but coconut water is a good source of potassium, which is something most of us need.
The coconut water makes this a long drink that’s very light on alcohol. It has only liqueurs for the alcoholic content, and a lot of mixers along with them.
That makes this a great drink for sipping along on in the hot sun or on a night of dancing. It’s also nice for parties or work get-togethers where you want guests to pace themselves.
